There are moments when you just want to go somewhere new, but you don’t really know how to get there. I remember searching for blogs and guides on how to travel from Abu Dhabi to Ras Al Khaimah—and honestly, I didn’t find much.
So here I am, sharing this based on experience.
Sometimes, the best way to learn is simply by going.
Starting Point: Abu Dhabi Bus Station
The bus going to RAK is located towards the end—after the buses for Ajman and Sharjah. Just take your time walking through, and you’ll find it.
Bus Timings & Travel Time
There are three main bus timings from Abu Dhabi to Ras Al Khaimah (Fare: AED 35):
- 01:30 PM
- 05:30 PM
- 09:30 PM
The travel time is around 3.5 to 4 hours. The ride is mostly non-stop from Abu Dhabi to Umm Al Quwain, so make sure you’re ready before boarding.
For reference, Ras Al Khaimah to Abu Dhabi bus timings are below, with fare of AED 50:
- 09:00 AM
- 01:00 PM
- 05:00 PM
One important thing to remember:
👉 Payment is CASH only, and you pay once you hop on the bus.
Bus Stops in Ras Al Khaimah
Here are the stops based on experience:
- Umm Al Quwain (first stop outside Abu Dhabi route)
- RAKEZ Bus Stop (near Marjan Island and Al Hamra Mall)
- Acacia Hotel
- RAK Main Bus Station
Once you arrive, you’ll see taxis available—or you can book through apps like Careem or Sayr. City bus is also available but if you are new in area, rather take taxi.
Getting Around (Initial Experience)
At the time, I didn’t explore much of the city transportation yet.
But from what I’ve seen, there are local buses around RAK.
I’ll definitely share more once I get to explore deeper.
UPDATE (April 2026) — Now a RAK Girl
It’s funny how places that once felt unfamiliar slowly become part of your life.
Since I’m now based in Ras Al Khaimah, here are a few updates that might help you:
If You’re Going to Marjan Island
If your destination is Marjan Island (where most hotels are located like Rixos, DoubleTree, Hampton, Waldorf, Mövenpick, Pullman, Rove):
👉 Go down at RAKEZ Bus Stop (first stop in RAK)
It’s much closer compared to going all the way to the main bus station.
- Taxis may not always be waiting
- But some pass by, or you can book through an app
If You’re Going to the City Proper
👉 Best option: Go down at the Main Bus Station
From there:
- Taxis are easily available
- It’s more convenient for city access
What’s Next?
I’m still exploring the city buses here in RAK, and I’ll be sharing a separate blog about it soon.
Traveling from Abu Dhabi to Ras Al Khaimah may seem simple, but every trip carries a story.
From not knowing where to go, to finally finding your way—
it’s a reminder that we’re all just figuring things out, one journey at a time.
And somehow, in between bus rides and unfamiliar stops,
you realize that God places you exactly where you need to be.
